GREETINGS
from the Session and Congregation of the Dry Ridge Presbyterian Church.   As the colors of autumn transform the beautiful countryside of Grant County, we write to update you on recent events and announce those soon to come.

IN CELEBRATION of FOUNDERS' DAY
At the 11:00 a.m. Worship Service Sunday, August 5,  we celebrated the 227th anniversary of our historic congregation by re-dedicating ourselves to God's service and celebrating the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper.

After luncheon in Fellowship Hall, a record audience of 106 individuals enjoyed our annual 2:00 p.m. Organ Concert, this year featuring Leah Giannattasio at the circa 1850s Hook and Hastings pipe organ.  She was joined by  Dr. Tim Dailey on trumpet, and in her vocal solos she was accompanied by John Ingram.  The Conrad Family Singers rounded out the program designed by Music Director Julie Donahue, concluding with a tradition Hymn-Sing followed by refreshments in Fellowship Hall.

IN WORSHIP

This year's Autumn sermon series is based on the Gospel according to Mark, and we are following Jesus and his disciples as they journey together, for the last time, to Jerusalem.  The study includes Jesus' three predictions of his death and resurrection, and his many related teachings to the disciples,  as well as the familiar narratives of  "The Rich Man" (10:17-27), "The Request of James and John" (10:35-45) and "The Healing of Blind Bartimaeus" (10:46-52).   The series continues through Sunday, November 25th and we hope you will join us.

PRESERVATION of the OLD CHURCH

We continue with our plans to preserve our sanctuary, built in 1892 and now in its 126th year of continuous congregational worship.   The work this Fall has been dedicated to the restoration of the original stained-glass windows.  Generous gifts to our Preservation Fund, and recent sponsorships specific to preserving the windows, have allowed us to address this urgent work.

The first week of September eight sanctuary windows (four on the east side and four on the west side) were dis-assembled, cleaned, and sealed back into place.  Work resumes the first week of November when the two arched windows above the front doors will be likewise restored.

Roof work must be addressed without delay, and other plans include the replacement of the exterior door on the west side of Fellowship Hall, an updated system for water drainage around the building, and replacement of the deteriorated church sign.  Repainting of the sanctuary exterior must also be undertaken early next year to preserve what is not only our precious "Old Church" but a significant historic landmark in Northern Kentucky.
Again, we thank those who have funded our work to this point.  Contributions from parishioners and friends of the church will continue to be crucial as we go forward in faith with all these projects.
